Information You Submit
A name, location, or other term entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. This site does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's policy controls its handling of the query.
Messages sent by email or a contact form may include the sender's address and submitted text. We retain them as needed to respond and do not share them outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires disclosure.
Automatic Technical Information
Routine web records may be created when a page loads. They can contain:
- Internet Protocol address;
- browser type and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent;
- the referring page, when supplied; and
- request timestamps.
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. Browser controls can reject or delete them, although some functions may then work differently.
How Information Is Used
Collected data supports ordinary site operations.
- Maintain reliable and responsive pages.
- Route a search request to the chosen partner.
- Measure which Berrien County resources are useful.
- Find errors and security problems.
- Present advertising that may reflect interests.
Links and Outside Services
Links may lead to the Berrien sheriff, GDC, Georgia VINE, courts, federal locators, or independent search tools. Once a visitor leaves, the destination's privacy policy governs. Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be handled by:
- search providers processing submitted queries;
- analytics vendors measuring site use;
- advertising networks delivering advertisements; and
- law-enforcement or government authorities acting under a valid legal order.
Security Practices
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect information. No internet-connected service is completely secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach, loss, or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use Contact Us to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the limits of what we hold, a person may request a copy of personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, or an opt-out from certain processing. Georgia public records held by agencies remain governed by the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. Section 50-18-70 et seq., rather than this policy.
Changes to This Notice
This privacy notice may be revised as practices or legal requirements change. A new version takes effect when posted here with its updated effective date.
